Last Final of the Semester

hmm

My second – and last – final exam is coming up tomorrow morning. I’ve studied quite a bit, but I’m still not sure if I’ll be able to do as well as I hope on the final. Well, here’s hoping that the level of difficulty for this exam is going to be the same as the 2 midterms I’ve had for this course earlier in the semester (because I did fine on them). Anyway, time to work on the old final exams for this course to see how well I fare.

Re-watching Full Metal Panic

Sorry about earlier.. here's some dinner I made. Let me come in and heat it up for you in the kitchen? Sousuke.. who is that girl!? 0:< *awkward*

Lol, today, I reminded myself of how awesome the Full Metal Panic! series was, as I was began re-watching it today. I’ve noticed that this anime has been the only one out of 100+ other series that I’ve watched before that I’ve re-watched more than twice. The characters are impressive, and the main characters have very memorable characteristics. It becomes action-packed quite early in the series, and it gets on with the storyline right away.  Btw, if anyone’s wondering, the screenies above are from ep 09, when Chidori comes to visit Sousuke to apologize after having an argument with him earlier in the day and sees his captain, Tessa (whom she doesn’t know at this point in the anime), coming out of the shower to ask Sousuke for a spare T-shirt.

ななついろ★ドロップス – 04

Tadah~ I’ve decided to blog this in my spare time. Maybe I’ll write about the previous eps as well sometime.

nd4-2.jpgnd4-4.jpgnd4-3.jpg

Yuuki comes to school in a fancy automobile, and as she gets out of the car, everyone is in awe. At the same time, her butler Arthur tries to cater to her every need, although clumsily. A little later on in class, a group of her classmates approach her as she is reading a book and tries to make friends with her, but she stands up and walks away, telling them that she’s busy studying a new theorem.

Later in the day, the class does swimming for PE and the group talks about how cool Tsuwabuki looks while he’s swimming. Sumomo, in the pool, looks like she agrees as well. Their attention then shifts to Yuuki, who’s sitting nearby in the shade reading a book. They wonder why she’s not swimming and come to the conclusion that maybe she’s not good at swimming. Meanwhile, Kisaragi-sensei tells Sumomo that it’s almost her turn, but Nako-chan tells him that she’s not very good in water. Kisaragi-sensei then asks Tsuwabuki to give Sumomo some “special training”, and both are surprised. The group then suggests that Yuuki get special training too, as they think that she’s not very good at swimming either, but she says that there’s nothing that she doesn’t do very well in. She then gets up and shows her impressive swimming skills, and everyone is again, in awe, especially Tsuwabuki, and Sumomo gets a bit down.

nd4-8.jpgnd4-10.jpgnd4-11.jpg

As Yuuki gets out of the pool, however, Arthur, in his attempt to give Yuuki’s glasses back to her, slips and bumps into her, and Yuuki begins to fall backwards into the pool; however, Tsuwabuki catches her just in time, and both Tsuwabuki and Yuuki stare at each other, blushing, while in that embrace-like state.

nd4-12.jpgnd4-13.jpgnd4-14.jpg

Later in the evening, Sumomo sighs as she wonders why she doesn’t have any courage. She then explains to Yuki-chan some (pretty funny) childhood events that were probably collectively the cause of her inability to work well with water. Yuki-chan tells her not to worry, as Sumomo remembers what happened during the pool earlier between Yuuki and Tsuwabuki.

Her ring suddenly lights up and so Sumomo and Yuki hurry to the place it’s pointing at, and meets up with Nako-chan at school, who explains that she came because she saw a light. They then hurry to the pool, inside which the stardrop is, but Sumomo is unable to retrieve it because of her fear. Prima Asparas-san (Yuuki) suddenly shows up and comments on how pathetic she’s looking. She states that she showed up today to guide her, not get in her way, as she wants to have a fair fight with Prima Puramu (Sumomo), so she wants Prima Puramu to get stronger. She shows Sumomo a way to get the stardrop inside the pool, a spell that allows any contact with water not to affect the user at all. She also adds that the spell can only be used by someone who is not afraid of water. She then leans close to Sumomo and asks her if she’s scared of water, and Arthur (in his dog form) gives her her glasses in order to let her see Sumomo’s face clearly, and she assures herself that Sumomo is indeed frightened. Nako-chan then asks if her eyesight is indeed bad, and if she wears her costume in order to improve her eyesight, and both Sumomo and Yuuki are shocked, as Nako-chan has found out Prima Asparas’ true identity quite easily. Nako-chan explains that she knows this because Asparas-san is wearing Yuuki’s glasses.

They (Sumomo, Yuki, Nako-chan, Yuuki, and Arthur) then go to Kisaragi-sensei’s office, who then explains that there exists a parallel world to the one they are currently living in. In this world, he says that there exists two schools, called Puramu Clovis and Sentou Asparas, both of which raise Stellar Spinners and collect stardrops. He explains that both schools select a representative each year, who comes to their world to collect the stardrops, which has become a tradition. He says this is to improve relations between schools, and that the first one who collects seven stardrops is declared the winner. Sumomo then asks Kisaragi-sensei what happened to the other representative. He answers that the representative did indeed come, but was suddenly struck by an illness and had to go back home, and so another representative had to be chosen. He then says that the ring chose her, Sumomo, a normal girl who knew nothing about these stardrops, as the representative for Puramu Clovis. Yuuki then speaks out, saying that she doesn’t accept Sumomo being the representative for Puramu. She says that since she’s not a part of the school, she’s just like anyone who can say special words. She then says that the spell she showed her earlier would be useless for Sumomo, since she is afraid of water. Nako-chan looks at Kisaragi-sensei worriedly, who assures her that Yuuki would not harm Sumomo.

Yuuki leads Sumomo and the others back out to the pool and traps the stardrop inside the pool, saying that it will stay frozen inside for the next 24 hours. She then tells Sumomo to try and retrieve it within the next 24 hours, and if she cannot do that, she will never be able to collect seven stardrops. She then casts another spell and flies away. Sumomo then decides to try to overcome her fear of water.

The next day, she asks Tsuwabuki to teach her how to swim, and they spend most of the day at the pool. She tries very hard to learn, and Tsuwabuki becomes impressed by Sumomo’s determination; however, even after a whole day’s hard work, Sumomo doesn’t improve much. Sumomo feels down at the end, and Nako-chan tries to cheer her up, saying that she did her best. Tsuwabuki comes back with a warm drink for Sumomo, telling her that there’s no need to rush, and that she’ll stop being afraid in no time. He then blushes and says that this is because he really thinks that Sumomo has courage. Sumomo is really touched by his words, and tries to thank him, but Tsuwabuki realizes that evening is drawing near, so he quickly leaves.

nd4-28.jpgnd4-29.jpgnd4-30.jpg

In the evening, Sumomo tries once again to retrieve the stardrop in the pool, but is again overcome by her fear. She then picks up Yuki-chan and hugs him, telling him she’s sorry. Yuki-chan tells her that it’s ok, even if she can’t get this one, there will be other chances to get stardrops. Sumomo then thanks him, saying that many wonderful things have happened ever since he appeared before her. She then remembers what Tsuwabuki told her earlier in the afternoon, and this gives her the courage to try again. Sumomo undoes Yuuki’s spell to trap the stardrop, and a new spell comes out from her magic book, Vimkomiti Aqua, the spell that Yuuki had shown her the previous night. She then uses it and retrieves the stardrop from the pool, and they all return home happily. Meanwhile, Yuuki wonders how Sumomo learned the spell so fast, even though it would take a week for one to learn it even with classes from the school.

Awesome, First Final Over :D

Waii, I’m so happy that my first final is over and done with. Now there’s only one more to go, then I get 3~ish weeks of summer before I have to go back to school! Actually, I was a little surprised. This final was not as hard as I thought i would be. There were only a couple of questions that were hard for me (mostly because I just skimmed over the sections in the book that covered them). Most of them were just really long questions, like “implement the entire stack class using this given interface”, which in my opinion was the hardest question given in the exam, and only because there was a lot to write down and we had to fit it all in one page.

I also noticed something that this professor did that none of my previous profs did – she made it so that we wouldn’t attempt guessing the answer for the True/False section of the final. She did it like this:

each correct answer                  1 mark
each wrong answer                  -1 mark
each unanswerred question      0 marks

Not only can you not gain a mark, you could also lose marks! Oh well, the True/False section wasn’t that hard, I think.

On another note, Imouto-chan posted a link to this awesome flash animation called “Speedy Cat”
